British heptathlete Jessica Ennis may have ticked winning an Olympic gold medal off her bucket list, but the sport star has now set her sights on the fashion world. Speaking exclusively in City’s AM magazine Bespoke, the athletics champion said “I’d love to start my own fashion label. I would love to go down that road whether it’s collaborating with [a big sportswear brand] or doing the more fashiony side of things.” Could she seek the advice Team GB's official kit designer we wonder?
After wearing Stella McCartney's sportswear to compete this summer, Jessica stepped out in an optical illusion dress by the British Fashion Awards Designer of the Year at an awards ceremony in October. Her support of British designers doesn't stop there, as the BBC Sports Personality of the Year nominee has also been spotted in a trio of Alexander McQueen frocks and a two dresses by Victoria Beckham which she wore to The Jonathan Ross Show and the Mulberry Spring/ Summer 2013 presentation.
The star confessed that she’s loved having her pick of high end pieces to wear: “It’s a brilliant position to be in. It’s nice to have the option to pick and choose – it’s less stressful when you’re deciding what to wear.” Perhaps getting the chance to showcase designer pieces has given her the inspiration to create a collection of her own. Whatever direction Jessica takes you can guarantee she won’t do anything by halves.
