She's the Model of the Year and the Queen of Instagram so who better to make scrunchies cool again than Cara Delevingne? The blonde beauty has been snapped up by My Crazy Scrunchie to play 'The Kid' in a Western-themed video for the new accessories label. She's joined by fellow model-slash-It-girls Clara Paget and Suki Waterhouse and together, they are the Murderous Crazy Scoundrels. The scrunchie-wearing trio are seen posing with guns, smouldering across a dusty town and err, lip-synching. It's genius!
Eu Simo Grijalbo and Laura Fraser are the super-cool London-based ladies behind the hair accessory brand, known as MCS. They design hand-made scrunchies in soft cottons, lace and silk that are availble to buy on their website, www.mcslondon.com. The scrunchies have already hit the catwalk for Vivienne Westwood when the designer commissioned bespoke styles for her Spring Summer 2013 show and considering the MCS girls have bagged THE hottest girl on the block, we were intrigued to know more...
Grazia Daily: How did MCS come about?
MCS: We were comparing our scrunchie collection one night and decided we could make some pretty cool ones ourselves, so we did!
Grazia Daily: So what's your must-have hair accessory?
MCS: Gingham, Lace, Tartan and anything Frida Kahlo style.
Grazia Daily: Scrunchies have long been a contentious issue – what do you love about them?
MCS: They’re so much fun. They add playfulness to any outfit and are a perfect way to express your character.
Grazia Daily: And who's your favourite scrunchie wearer?
MCS: All the girls in our first shoot blew our mind. You can't get better than Latino-looking chicks in dungarees.
Grazia Daily: As for your recent video, what is it about Cara Delevingne that caught your eye?
MCS: She is amazing looking, obviously, but she also has a certain a spark that we like. MCS is about good time girls, people who don't care and are free so she fitted the bill perfectly.
Grazia Daily: How was it working with her on the shoot?
MCS: All three of the girls are such good friends that it was more like hanging out than working. They are all wicked and super professional.
Grazia Daily: How would you sum up Clara and Suki?
MCS: Good fun, super hot and easy going.
Grazia Daily: What was the best thing about working with Vivienne Westwood?
MCS: We lent her some scrunchies for her show. It was really exciting but also quite scary as we had to make loads for that night, which ended up being the next morning as our scrunchies were all over town with friends.
Grazia Daily: How did the collaboration come about?
MCS: When we started making scrunchies all our friends really wanted them so we made them for presents and personalised them. All of our scrunchies are named after our best friends and muses. Alice [Dellal] wore hers to the Westwood show fitting and they loved them so she set us up. Her people spoke to our people, basically us!
Grazia Daily: Finally, will you be moving into other areas of design?
MCS: Yes we are but if we told you we would have to kill you.
Yikes. See the MCS scrunchies in action below...
