It’s been Kate Moss’s year. And credit is surely due to a woman whose modeling career leaves all others in the shade. While the lifespan of this preternaturally beautiful, long and leggy breed averages at around, oooh, three minutes these days, Moss, 38, now approaching a quarter of a century at the top of her field, shows no sign of putting her feet up (thank goodness).
If ever proof were needed of her unrivalled chameleon qualities, it comes in the form of the coffee table tome of 2012, the appositely titled Kate Moss, edited by the her good self along with her friend, casting agent, Jess Hallett, and the father of her child, Jefferson Hack. From siren to ingénue, at work there is no look Kate doesn’t nail.
“It’s never the same story, never the same photograph, never the same people. It’s always changing,” she tells Hallett in the conversation that opens the book. “When I do pictures I don’t think it’s me. I do feel like it’s someone else. There is definitely an understanding between the photographer and model and who the person is you’re trying to create.”
At play, meanwhile, this is a woman who carries off Hollywood glamour just as well as she does hippy chic, rockstar girlfriend and even school run. No one wears jeans like she does either. What’s not to love?
