Fingers crossed there’s a fire behind this smoke: Kate Moss is rumoured to be X Factor's new style consultant. Uh-huh. According to reports in The Mirror, Simon Cowell is 'looking at ways of refreshing the show and one idea he will bring to the table is getting Kate Moss on board.' We knew we liked him. And considering ratings dropped during this year's series, who better to give the show a boost than our favourite Croydon catwalker?
Because, let's be honest, the only thing that interests us about the X Factor is the fashion and it hasn't been at its finest of late. C'mon, you know it's true. Compare this series to those heady days when we'd get genuinely excited to see what the judges would be wearing each week. From Cheryl Cole's Matthew Williamson beauties to Dannii Minogue's elegant gowns, Saturday nights were a chic treat. Okay, so Nicole Scherzinger and Tulisa Contostavlos have continued the weekly fash-off fun but it's just not. the. same. Step forward Moss.
'[Cowell] knows how important the styling of the contestants is and having a supermodel and a world-famous name on board would certainly raise the bar,' a source says. 'Kate could give the contestants advice and ideas on how they want to look and also how to look after themselves and still look great in the years ahead.' Please God can she help the judges too AND get Caroline Flack out of those buttoned-up shirts while she's at it.
The question is: would Kate really sign up to appear on telly, not to mention live telly? The famously schtum super has never been one for talking on camera or even giving interviews. What we do know is Mossy is already a fan of the show, as we discovered when she popped up in the X Factor audience back in 2008. Also: she's made no secret of her penchant for karaoke.
But for now, all we can do is speculate - and dream up 9 predictions for a Mossy / X Factor collab...
