Trail-blazing Rihanna styles herself a lot these days, but it’s Lysa Cooper – a co-presenter on RiRi’s fashion TV show Styled To Rock – who is responsible for turning R’n’B princess RiRi into to bad-gal RiRi. When we caught up with Lysa on the phone – she was road-trippin’ around America – to chat fash. We discovered she's thrilled that Rihanna had chopped her hair into that pixie crop again and that no girl should go near the wedge trainer again… Ever. Swot up on Lysa's fashion tips below, along with a shopping fix to get her look, and then scroll through the gallery above for a trip down memory lane (aka Rihanna's S&M phase).
Names she styles: Rihanna and Shakira.
So what’s the look?: Lysa works across stage, music videos, red carpets and commercial, so her look can jump from super-feminine to theatrical. She’s worked on countless Rolling Stone covers and knows just how to make anyone from Lindsay Lohan to Beyonce look scorching hot in some sexy undies. But it’s her Ri-Ri style double leather, ripped denim, outerwear-as-underwear and animal prints we so adore. Or, as Lysa calls it: ‘rock’n’roll – mixed with a kind of hippy earth mama.’ The look is simple: ‘There’s always one very strong piece, like a great hat or pair of boots. I don’t like too much going on at same time.’
This sums it up: Rihanna in her Disturbia video. Every. Single. Brilliant. Outfit.
Labels to look out for: ‘I don’t go with what everyone else always loves. Right now I’m into Mara Hoffman, Haider Ackerman, Kokon to Zai, Rebecca Taylor, Victoria Beckham and Moncler.’
The item you need now: ‘A great, oversized coat is the key to looking good in NYC and London. There’s one particular Donna Karan blanket coat I’m obsessed with!’
