Forget the current chat about Kate Middleton in a bikini, us Graziettes love nothing more than seeing our Duchess swathed in an uber-glam gown. So when we saw Jenny Packham's Autumn Winter 2013 collection cram-packed with princessy beauties, you can imagine the lady we had in mind.
As you know, Kate is already a mega fan of the British-born designer. She's turned to her gorgeous dresses on many formal occasion to pack a red carpet punch — lest we forget the stunner she chose for the 'Our Greatest Team Rises' concert last May featuring a lace bodice embellished with Swarovski crystals. And you'll remember she hosted a charity dinner at St James’s Palace last November in a silver one-shoulder gown accented by a velvet ribbon previously seen on none other than Angelina Jolie. But perhaps our favourite Middy moment EVER was when she stepped out in a bedazzling pearlescent stunner at the ARK Gala. Oh, how we swooned!
Ms Packham's latest collection, inspired by the women who frequented the Parisian salon scene of the 17th Century, was dripping in the kind of elegance our K-Middy adores. Granted, as The Cut notes, Kate may not opt for the spaghetti-strapped designs and dresses featuring sheer-paneled cutouts or indeed the trouser suits, but we can totally see her wearing the fluid satin wrap dress and ladylike gowns covered in glistening beadwork. Several featured sparkling sheer overlays, perfect for the conservative Duchess needing to keep her arms covered, and the colour palette of sapphires and blush tones was suitably refined.
There were even a few options for a pregnant Duchess — see the high-waisted numbers with baggy midsections and gathered, layered and draped creations. Surely it's just a matter of time...
