We meet the girl described as 'wilder than Kate Moss'
It was backstage at the Burberry show, amid a chaotic swirl, that we found a face who has come to sum up all the fashion crazy of the week: Cara Delevingne. Surrounded by four photographers, two hairdressers, make-up artists and show hangers-on, she manages to make herself heard. ‘I’m dying,’ she says, with her trademark matter-of-fact attitude. ‘I’m exhausted.’
As Paul Flynn writes in this week's issue, Cara has been gloriously ubiquitous on both the catwalk and party scene this season and has given good face everywhere. ‘I keep myself going by trying not to drink too much, drinking water and eating healthily,’ she exclusively told Grazia. ‘When I’ve finished fashion week I want to take a few holidays. I need to learn how to relax.’
The running gag of the New York womenswear shows was that the most prevalent trend to emerge was not a colourway or era, but Cara. She ruled London Fashion Week too, hurtling her celebrity power into orbit. ‘We had 30 paparazzi waiting for her outside Giles,’ Katie Grand reveals in the new issue of Grazia. The super-stylist has cast Cara in the shows she’s styled for Marc Jacobs, Giles and Sister by Sibling. ‘She’s sweet with them and quite tolerant. She reminds me of Kylie in the early ’90s.’
And Cara’s celebrity is fanning out of the fashion fraternity. Her ex-boyfriend Harry Styles joked to Grazia last week, ‘It’s all about the eyebrows. It’s her eyebrows that make her!’ The model has also forged a friendship with Rihanna, appearing on the front row of the singer’s debut capsule collection for River Island last week and partying with her afterwards. ‘The Rihanna show was fun,’ she told Grazia. ‘I met her when she was here two years ago doing a gig. And then she sang at the Victoria’s Secret show and we hung out. She looks after me when I go to LA. She’s the best, she’s such a sweet, down-to-earth girl. She doesn’t have that many girlfriends but we have a lot in common. I don’t think many girls understand her.’
There's a fun side to Cara that makes every girl want to be her BFF. Her fun side is never more on display than when she is in her favourite off-duty attire: the onesie. ‘I own over 30,’ she told us at Burberry, ‘and leave a trail of them at my friends’ houses.’
