Fashion week is nothing without its glitzy FROW brigade and queen of the off-catwalk fashion show is undoubtedly Anna dello Russo. Clad in head to toe new season Prada, complete with those Geisha inspired flatfroms ADR brought her particular brand of fashion mania to NYFW yesterday as we accosted her on the Rodarte front row. As the finish-line of this snowy edition of New York's style nears, who better to seek advice for coping with the pressures of fashion week that Ms Anna?
But first up what has caught the eye of Japaense Vogue’s editor-at-large? “I loved the French of glamour at the Marc by Marc Jacobs show, it was very nice. Both of Victoria Beckham’s shows were incredibly strong. She has developed such a strong, focused point of view, she really is one of New York’s stars. I love the way she blends elegance with coolness – and this season’s shows were really quite grown up.”
Next up, what are the ADR’s thoughts on Alexander Wang’s appointment to the top job at Balenciaga? “I loved the Wang show and really feel he deserves the challenge at Balenciaga. For his age he is such a strong creative force – I mean he is only 26. He still has such a long career ahead, I am really excited to see what he will do at Belenciaga.”
Back now to how the immaculately turned out editor copes with the hectic NYFW schedule. What is her regime?
1. “Firstly it is always important to go some sport in the morning to get your energy up. I swim and do yoga every morning – its also a great cure for jet-lag.”
2. “I eat very, very carefully. Lots of fruit and nuts and protein to keep my energy up. You must be very healthy.”
3. “You have to make sure you sleep properly for as many hours as possible. Of course there are lots of things to go and do and see, but try not to party too much.”
4. “Never wear too much makeup. If you wear too much makeup it is again, it is so much better to keep it light, it will make you look so much fresher.”
So there we have it, ADR’s take on NYFW thus far. While the rest of us fashion hacks continue to eat like Americans, avoid physical movement, and cake on the make up to cover jet-lagged broken sleep, it's nice to know that someone is beating fashion week fatigue!
