‘Oh mah GAD, I lurve lurve lurve it! It’s divine! It’s so poetic! Oh j’adore . . .I feel like I’m in a dream, in a cloud!’
We all feel very enthusiastic about Alber Elbaz, the ebullient Lanvin creative director. Now we know just how enthusiastic he feels about his work too. He’s progressed from previous campaigns which featured dancing models to this – technological update – a video of the SS13 campaign shoot in progress over which Elbaz’s voice is heard enthuses heartily, as well as his face in the corner of the screen – checking out the Californian-style set up all the way from Paris – via the miracle of Skype.
The back story to the vid is this – Alber himself had wanted to attend the shoot, with fashion photographer Steven Meisel (actually shot in New York) BUT due to with Hurricane Sandy and a backlog of fittings at his Paris atelier meant he was forced to stay in France.
However, he simply Skyped the photographer on the day of the shoot, et voila! He was able to art-direct the action as models Karlie Kloss, Saskia de Brauw and Daria Strokous mingle in each photo, wearing dresses, tuxedos and cut-way swimwear and clutching an array of handbags for day and evening.
Now watch the video titled “I Wish I Was There,” – never has the Skype ringtone sounded so funky.
We couldn’t agree with Elber more – DIVINE!
