Drum roll please for Jennifer Lawrence, seen here for the first time in her official capacity as the new face of Miss Dior. Her considerable allure aside, there’s no great image without a great team. With that in mind, the photographer is Willy Vanderperre and the stylist is Olivier Rizzo. Add to the mix Dior women’s wear creative director Raf Simons, responsible, of course, for any clothes, and it’s small wonder that this is the most quietly beautiful campaign of the new season.
The three Belgian-born superstars – who would doubtless hate to be described in that way because they are as private and understated as their work - have been friends for many years: Simons met Rizzo when he was on an internship with Walter Van Beirendonck in the late Eighties and by the time he launched his own men’s wear label in 1995 he was firm friends with Willy Vanderperre too.
“Olivier and Willy are like brothers to me,” Simons confirms in the new issue of AnOther Magazine.
As for Golden Globe winner and Best Actress Oscar nominee for Silver Linings Playbook Jennifer Lawrence… Could there be a better person to represent an exciting new phase in the life of this monolithic French status label? It’s hard to think of one. She looks lovely with her pretty, pale face shrouded in a delicate French veil. No one on the planet, meanwhile, wears a tuxedo – by now firmly established at the heart of Simons’ Dior - quite this well. Masterful.
