The name on everyone's lips today is of course 'Beyonce' and no wonder after the star gave a sensational performance at yesterday's Super Bowl. There was insane dancing, fierce outfits and a highly anticipated reunion with her Destiny's Child band mates Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams. While we imagine pressure was intense for the athletes on pitch, on stage emotions ran high as the ladies were joined on the Super Bowl bill by friends and fellow pop stars Jennifer Hudson and Alicia Keys.
Bey, who previously spilled her heart out with a note on Tumblr when President Obama was re-elected, posted a word of thanks to her fellow performers last night: "What a proud day for African American Women!!!! Kelly, Michelle, Alicia, JHud you are all beautiful, talented and showed so much class! It was an honour to perform at the Super Bowl with you phenomenal ladies. Love Beyonce." What we love most about this handwritten note is the fact that even Beyonce calls J-Hud J-Hud.
Kelly Rowland, Alicia Keys and Jennifer Hudson were equally grateful for the experience with Alicia tweeting a snap of herself after singing the National Anthem in front of the 72k-strong crowd along with the words "I was speechless in this pic! Blessed to be here in Louisiana showing love for the USA." J-Hud wholeheartedly agreed tweeting "Such an amazing time! I am grateful!!! God bless America." Meanwhile Kelly was clearly ecstatic at being reunited with Beyonce and Kelly, posting a photo from their performance on Instagram with the comment "Me and my girls don't go out a lot, but when we do, we always shutdown shop!"
The most adorable moment of the event on social media came when makeup artist Joanna Simkin tweeted a picture of Beyonce jumping into her husband Jay-Z's arms backstage after her performance along with the caption "Mutual gravity. Hold down and be held down. #TheCarters". It the snap of Mr Carter's reaction to his wife shared by Brooklyn Santoro is anything to go by it looks like Jay is one very proud spouse!
