Is it just us, or is Emily Blunt looking jaw-droppingly ah-mazing on the red carpet recently? Emily Blunt has officially made the transition from cutesy English actress to Hollywood royalty, with the help of her glam makeover. She was one of the best dressed at the Golden Globes this year in a gold Michael Kors gown paired with a Ferragamo clutch bag. She looked sophisticated, with an air of Old Hollywood like at the Critics' Choice Awards, and showed off her killer silhouette.
She managed to look sexy without having to do the whole J-Lo in nada but crystals thing. So what's her secret to transforming into a Old Hollywood red carpet siren? Two words - cut outs. You know how it goes, less is more blah blah blah. But in this case, it's actually true, as the teeny flash of flesh at the waist is way more attractive than looking like you're actually naked on the red carpet. Sorry J-Lo.
She first tried out this look way back in 2010 in Cannes where she wore a fire engine red Georges Chakra gown with detailing and cut outs at the waist. She then returned to this technique in a big way in 2012, as first she wore a pink gown to the MET ball with you guessed it side cut outs, then to the National Board of Review Awards she wore a blush Emilio Pucci pencil dress with slits at the shoulders and waist. In November she also whacked out anotherrr white cut out dress, this time by Calvin Klein. So it'll be cut outs at the Oscars for you then Em?
Look how much Emily Blunt has upped her red carpet fashion game since when she first started acting and stuck to boring shiny silver dresses. Blah. We're telling you, it's all in the cut outs....
