Here's something to pluck you from your January blues: the kicking-off of Awards Season. Yay! The fun has begun in California where the Palm Springs Film Festival is in full swing. It sees the first swanky awards ceremony of many to come and okay, so it's no Oscars frockathon but it is a good warm up act to get us in the swing of things.
For starters, expect to be treated to a carousel of hot hits from Naomi Watts as she promotes her latest film, The Impossible. First it was a Calvin Klein wool coat + leather skirt for a trip to Letterman and for Saturday's awards gala, she looked divine in a draped emerald blue gown by our very own Roland Mouret.
Naomi was joined by fellow Hollywood leading ladies - and potential Oscar winners - including Helen Mirren and Helen Hunt who all gave stylish runs on the red carpet. While Dame Mirren opted for a brilliantly bright Escada gown teamed with Stuart Weitzman heels, Helen Hunt made like Naomi in a deep shade of blue courtesy of a slinky Michael Kors number. As for Diane Lane, she wowed in a lavender Dolce and Gabbana cocktail dress.
Bradley Cooper accepts the Desert Palm Achievement Award
On the awards front, Helen Hunt received the Spotlight Award while Naomi picked up the Desert Palm Achievement Award for Acting. Bradley Cooper accepted the corresponding award for actor thanks his role in Silver Linings Playbook and our Mirren won the International Award with Diane Lane presenting the Chairman’s Award to a dapper Richard Gere. As well as Bradley, Ben Affleck, who took home the Ensemble Performance Award along with the Argo cast, provided some besuited eye candy as did Eddie Redmayne, our crush-du-jour since warbling his heart out in Les Miserables.
The Palm Springs Film Festival is set to run until 14th January so expect to see more glitzy goings on coming our way...
