Over the Christmas holidays, we got a real treat when rumours emerged of a possible Kate Moss for X Factor collaboration. Now, Grazia has learned that Simon Cowell does indeed want Croydon's finest to be part of a string of ‘unmissable TV moments’, which he has planned to bring back peak ratings during what will be the X Factor’s 10th anniversary. Kate’s role? To style the contestants in one of the live shows for a one-off Britpop tribute. Ah-maz-ing! Apparently, he also wants to use footage of the supermodel talking about her memories of Britpop as she advises the singers on clothes.
A source within Simon’s television company, Syco, says he’s currently working on ‘Plan Kate’. ‘Simon is absolutely desperate to breathe life back into X Factor,’ they said. ‘He knows he has to change everything from the judges to the sets to the contestants themselves, but he also wants each show to contain something never seen or done before, something he calls: “Blow your pants off moments”. Fashion is a huge pull for X-Factor, and he wants Kate on board.
‘He’s known Kate for years through his friend Philip Green and she has often joked to him about putting her on the telly. She’s even been down to X Factor as an audience guest.’
As for reports that Simon had offered Kate a job as style consultant on the entire series, the source added: ‘That just would never happen. She’s way too busy and it’s too much of a commitment. But the one-off special is about the show being more than just music. He wants Kate talking about her memories, outfits she wore in the 90s and dressing some of the contestants. Kate is definitely up for the challenge.’
