He’s the master of making women feel beautiful in a frock, a maestro of elegant design, and now, at long last, Oscar de la Renta is opening his very first UK flagship store in London. Hooray!
The store has been a long time in the making – apparently taking five whole years to find the perfect location – which it transpires is on the corner of Berkeley Street and Mount Street, one of Grazia Daily’s favourite shopping streets in London. There you'll find the largest of ODR’s stores - 3,000-square-foot to be exact - and it will sit proudly among very good company from Lanvin and Nicholas Kirkwood to Marc Jacobs and Christian Louboutin. Talk about top-notch neighbours.
So what can we expect from this epic new retail space? Oscar and shopping fans alike won’t be left disappointed by the whopping three floored store with original winding staircase and period mouldings preserved – comprising of daywear, fragrances and handbags on the ground floor; formalwear and footwear on the first floor, and, for the first time in an ODR store – a separate space for bridal, children’s and home wear on the lower ground floor. Yes, that’s Oscar de la Renta bridal wear. Be still our beating fashion hearts. Have a look through our gallery above to see a sneak peek at the new ODR store.
Oscar has also been on the fash-pack’s lips this week, with the rather surprising news that controversial designer John Galliano will be making his fashion week comeback as a pseudo collaborator/studio resident at the house of de la Renta – perhaps on time for his autumn winter show during New York fashion week? Curious news indeed! Read more about John Galliano and ODR’s NYFW news here….
