It was an absolute scrum when Grazia Daily snuck backstage after the Burberry Prorsum show on Monday. The room was packed full of A-list FROWers including Kate Beckinsale and Rosie Huntington Whiteley as well as a bevvy of journalists, photographers and film crews, all desperate to speak to the man of the hour, Mr Christopher Bailey. 'I'm starting to lose my voice but I'm feeling good,' the designer told us when we squeezed through the crowds for a chat.
'I call the collection Trench Kisses,' he told us of the Autumn Winter 2013 beauties which had just hit the catwalk. 'I like the idea of the trench coat, which was established 158 years ago, mixed with something a little bit naughty, a bit cheeky and sexy. So we had cotton woven here in England mixed them with plasticised leathers and covered in heart motifs.' We, for one, loved.
Speaking of cheekiness, Christopher couldn't help but gush about the new face of the brand, Romeo Beckham. 'He's the most wonderful little chap and the most beautifully mannered guy. He also has the most incredible style and pretty good genes from his mum and dad.' So will Christopher be recruitng the whole Beckham brood? 'I'm not sure about that!' he grinned. 'They're an incredible family and I'm always impressed by Romeo's enormously talented parents. They've been able to bring up the most beautifully mannered kids and I'm full of admiration for that.'
As for the rest of the Burberry crew, there's one lady everyone's talking about. 'Whenever you're around Cara Delevingne, you can't stop laughing,' Christopher said of the model of the moment. 'She brings such an energy to every room and makes sure everybody's having fun. She's like a little sunshine in the room.'
And how refreshing to see Karlie Kloss stomping the Brit catwalk! 'I've known Karlie since she was 14 when we worked together in Chicago before she started modeling. Not only is she one of the most beautiful women in the world but she's got the most incredible personality. I've got a very soft spot for her.'
